Committed Climbing North America’s Fifty Classics

the Goal

To document the extraordinary journey of one couple climbing all of the routes made famous by the iconic book, Fifty Classic Climbs of North America.

This journey will take them up more than 164,000 vertical feet of technical terrain on a road trip that will cover over 60,000 miles.

Along the way HD footage will be captured and shared through this website via videos that will portray the experiences of Janelle and Mark Smiley during their climb.  This footage will intertwine extraordinary mountain settings with these two climbers’ commitment to pursue their passions.
